Learning from experienced forex traders can help the new trader gain a better perspective faster than by reading and self-study. The new forex trader should never overlook the opportunity to establish new contacts. This provides numerous benefits: increases access to current knowledge, enables the new trader to learn from the experiences of others and creates a pool of experience from which knowledge can be drawn, giving the new trader an edge. The more successful traders the new trader knows, the more information about forex trading he or she is likely to gain.

Forex trading made easy is a myth, but the new trader can gain advantage – and make learning forex easier – by being more social and interacting with other forex traders. Take advantage of the communities developed for the forex trader:

• Join a forex trading forum for beginners and ask questions
• Write comments on the blog of a trader that appears to be successful
• Post questions to a forex trading discussion board or other news list
• Talk to your broker

A well-executed trade by a peer that you are familiar with is more much easily remembered than one read about in a book by someone you’ve never met. Imagine reading in a book about some famous trader who made big money on a trade and explain how they captured 200 pips using a Fibonacci method in painstaking, monotonous detail. Then, imagine that same trade made by someone you know from a forum or have even corresponded with in email. There is excitement in the way the trader describes the trade. The audience is rapt, eager to get the inside story. Other traders comment – the buzz is huge! It lends a completely new dimension to your learning experience.

Automated forex trading is great, with all the signals, bells and whistles. But, sometimes, a new trader just needs to hear what goes on in another other trader’s head. Without the human contribution to the market, the trading can seem flat and 2-dimensional. It an also be less successful.

The forex trading information that the average newbie trader reads about in books is almost as exciting as watching paint dry. Hearing about the trades of friends and acquaintances that you have met on forums, blogs and other forex-specific communities can be a more realistic and productive way to learn the intricacies of the forex market.
